Another Round of Snow Expected in the Roanoke/Lynchburg Areas For Monday

UPDATE: NWS in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas:

Roanoke-Botetourt-Franklin-Bedford-Amherst-Campbell-Appomattox-Buckingham-Charlotte-Including the cities of Appomattox, Rocky Mount, Fincastle,Salem, Bedford, Roanoke, Keysville, Amherst, and Lynchburg

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM TO 5 PM EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 to 5 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central, south central, and west central Virginia.

* WHEN...From 5 AM to 5 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Another round of snow will sweep through the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas starting Monday morning.

Accumulations of 3-5" are expected.

Snow will start before sunrise Monday and last through much of the day.

ABC 13 - WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger gives us the details:

LOW DRIVING VISIBILITY: Compared to last Friday’s snow, Monday’s wind will be stronger. Cold breezes from the NE will blow the snow. Gusts near 20mph.

SNOW LASTS 6 TO 9 HOURS for many. Many of us will have snow on the ground at lunch, and snow continues to fall into the afternoon.
