More than 1,000 people came out to Peaks View Park for the 2025 Lynchburg Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention, on Saturday, October 4.
The event raised over $107,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The morning started with entertainment and an opening ceremony spotlighting the work AFSP does for prevention and raising awareness.
Next, the walkers took off on a 2-mile loop through Peaks View Park.
The event was capped off by a ribbon ceremony honoring those who have been lost to suicide.
In addition, families posted photos and notes on the Memory Wall to honor their family members who have passed.
The Out of the Darkness Walk also featured a number of vendors, photo booth, rock painting activities, honor beads, and resource tables providing informational materials.
New Country 107.9 YYD's Scott Stevens was on hand as master of ceremonies, announcing that the event had raised $107,260.
