BLACKSBURG, Va. (WSET) — The Hokies' head football coach, Brent Pry, has been "relieved" of his coaching duties, effective immediately, according to a letter from Virginia Tech President Tim Sands on Sunday.
Saturday's loss to Old Dominion University dropped VT to 0-3 on the season and 16-24 under Pry, who began coaching with the university in 2021.
"The results on the field were not acceptable and a change in leadership is necessary," shared Sands. "We will continue to fully support our team and student-athletes for the remaining games as we strive together to significantly improve the trajectory of our football program this season."
Sands also shared that Philip Montgomery is set to serve as interim head coach.
