Freddy Krueger, Hannibal Lector, Michael Myers, and Chucky are among the scariest horror movie characters, according to a recent poll by Morning Consult.
Respondents were given a list of horror movie villains and were asked if they thought the characters were scary or not.
65% agreed that Freddy Krueger was scary, along with Hannibal Lector at 60%, Michael Myers at 60%, and Chucky at 54%.
Others on the scary list: Norman Bates, 49%, Pennywise 49%, and Jason Voorhees at 46%.
Not that scary? 43% said Dracula was not really that scary, while 53% thought Frankenstein wasn't much of anything.
Meanwhile, the scariest movies include, "Halloween," "Friday the 13th," "Nightmare on Elm Street," "The Exorcist," and "Scream."
Morning Consult data shows that U.S. moviegoers prefer the popular horror franchises from the 1970s and 1980s.
