Fireworks return to Downtown Lynchburg on Friday, July 2, 2021 in celebration of Independence Day!
The display, hosted by Downtown Lynchburg Association and sponsored by BWX Technologies, New Country 107.9 YYD, and WDBJ7, will mark the first time since 2017 that fireworks will be hosted downtown for the public.
Viewers will have their selection of public spaces from which to enjoy the show including Riverfront Park, the Lower Bluffwalk, and a portion of Midtown Parking Deck.
The display will begin just after dark, at approximately 9:15 pm, and visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, chairs and blankets.
Downtown Lynchburg Association says:
Riverfront Park is our #1 top spot if you want a front-and-center style event. Bring a blanket and a picnic (no alcohol, please) while you enjoy a little bit of background music from the DLA team. This will be a prime spot for families and we envision quite a few kids running barefoot in the grass, so we ask that this space stay pet-free.

What better way to cool down on a hot day than with some MayLynn’s. Not only will they be serving up the classics like soft-serve from their shop, but they will be launching a new line of popsicles sold right in the park!
Head over to TWD Beer Garden (formally known as the Riverfront Park Splash Pad). Out there you can buy a round of cold canned beverages and mingle with your friends. Space is limited to standing room only, so leave your folding chairs at home.
Grab your food to-go and head to the Takeout Patio at the Grove, installed next to Depot Grille in 2020, or walk down to the Takeout Patio on the Bluffwalk.
To add to the fun, some local businesses will also be offering viewing opportunities, special menus, takeout options, and shopping deals, which will all be listed at DowntownLynchburg.com.
