Winter Storm to Bring Rain, Sleet and Snow to Our Area the Next Few Days

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Mother Nature is sending us a few batches of precipitation this week with rain, snow and ice potential. Much colder weather also arrives for the remainder of the week.

We have a few chances for wintry weather:

1) A few showers late develop late Wednesday with measurable snow in the mountains.

2) Ice Storm potential... Rain, freezing rain and sleet for Thursday. The heaviest precip falls Thursday night.

We’re forecasting highs near 33. If your location is 32 or colder, then you’re getting freezing rain. There is the potential for heavy freezing rain Thursday night.

Snow will likely fall from this system for Lynchburg and Roanoke and will melt upon the impact of the ground because of borderline temperatures.
