GFTW to Hold Drive-Through Food Distribution in Madison Heights on Saturday

As part of the Farmers to Families USDA program, Gleaning For The World will be hosting a free drive-through food distribution event at Temple Baptist Church, located at 4465 S. Amherst Highway in Madison Heights, on Saturday, October 31, from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm in the church parking lot.

Each household will receive a 30-pound box of food, which will include a gallon of milk, bags of potatoes, apples, and onions, sour cream, cottage cheese, block cheese, a carton of eggs, a pack of hot dogs, and frozen chicken.

Any children attending the drive through distribution will also be offered a brand new toy for free! Any individual or family in need of food are welcome to attend the distribution.

“We are pleased to be able to offer these foods to our neighbors in Madison Heights and surrounding areas. Food insecurity has risen in Central Virginia and beyond due to COVID-19 related issues," Jeane Smiley-Mason, Gleaning’s president said.

Through the Farmers to Families USDA program, Gleaning has received several tractor trailers filled with nutritious foods and has shared the food with 30+ nonprofits and churches with feeding programs in Central Virginia.
