The USDA Forest Service says that the fire in Jefferson National Forest is now 20% contained.
They say that the helicopter used on Friday, October 4 to drop 75,000 gallons of water was not used on Saturday, October 5 but is still available if needed.
Since Friday, October 4, the fire has not increased in size.
Matts Creek Trail is expected to remain closed indefinitely.
The closures of the Appalachian Trail and James River Foot Bridge Parking Area remain in effect and are being evaluated daily.
Homeowners can take action to protect their property from wildfires.
