From ABC 13 - WSET Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger:

We have 4 days of rain ahead. The heaviest rain will fall Friday through Saturday morning.

Ian will make a second landfall and come ashore Friday afternoon in South Carolina North and East of Charleston.

This eastward shift and strengthening will mean strong wind and heavier rain for our area with wind gusts near 40 mph from the Northeast.

That is strong enough for scattered power outages, so plan and be prepared accordingly.

Gusts near 50 mph are possible across Southside and mountain ridges.

2-4 inches of rain totals will be widespread by Saturday morning. Amounts should be highest across the Southside and the mountains of Southwest Virginia.

Temperatures hovering in the 50s with the rain, 40s possible in the mountains.

You’ll want to use care driving Friday afternoon. Heavy rain will blow in the wind, reducing visibility.
