How You Can Help Those Affected By Hurricane Ian

Hurricane Ian, one of the most powerful storms to hit the U.S. in decades, made landfall in Florida on Wednesday -- striking with devastating force and causing mass evacuations, winds of up to 150 mph, a life-threatening storm surge, flooding and heavy rainfall -- impacting communities across Florida’s western coast.

We will see some of the remnants of Ian as Virginia has four days of rain ahead of us. The heaviest rain and wind is expected Friday and into Saturday morning, with showers continuing through Monday.

Many rain totals in the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas will reach 3 inches or more.

If you’d like to help support Florida communities, United Way Suncoast Disaster Fund and Americares Ian Relief are two well-respected organizations who will offer Hurricane Ian relief funds.

Locally, Gleaning For The World is also accepting monetary donations to help with Hurricane Ian relief.
