Shepherd's Men 22-Hour Event to be Held May 25 in Downtown Lynchburg

The Shepherd's Men Run 22-hour event to bring awareness to veteran suicide will be held Tuesday, May 25 through Wednesday, May 26 in Downtown Lynchburg.

The Shepherd’s Men is a 10-member team of active duty, medically retired and honorably discharged servicemen, and civilian patriots dedicated to raising funds and awareness for PTSD and TBI treatment at the Atlanta-based Shepherd Center’s SHARE Military Initiative.

The Shepherd’s Men Run is a seven-day, seven-city physical challenge during which each member of the Shepherd’s Men team will run while wearing 22-pound flak vests with armor plates to honor the lives of the 22 veterans lost to suicide in the US every day.

The Lynchburg portion of the run will start at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 25 at The Water Dog on Jefferson St.

The participants will then run up to the top of Monument Terrace and back for 22 hours.

Veterans and the general public are invited to come out to show support and to learn more about suicide awareness and prevention.

Visit the Shepherd's Men website for more information.

And be sure to visit the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention.
