Virginia Businesses to Move into Phase 3 Reopening Plan on Wed., July 1

Governor Ralph Northam says Virginia will move into Phase 3 of business reopening on Wednesday, July 1.

Northam says the number of positive coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in Virginia continue to trend downward.

Under Phase 3, capacity limits on non-essential retail stores and restaurants will be lifted but businesses must maintain social distancing and sanitizing requirements.

Social gatherings up to 250 people will be allowed. Museums and zoos can operate at 50% capacity.

Gyms, fitness centers and pools can operate at 75% capacity, and salons and personal grooming services can operate regularly. All must maintain social distancing and sanitizing requirements.

Face coverings for everyone over the age of 10 will continue to be required in public indoor spaces.

More information on Phase 3 requirements can be found on the Governor's Website.

Northern Virginia and the City of Richmond are expected to move into Phase 3 at the same time as the rest of Virginia.

Northam also announced that $246 million from the federal CARES act will be used to help Virginia's long-term care and nursing home facilities with staffing, PPE, testing and infection control with the goal of lifting visitation restrictions.

The Virginia Department of Health is now releasing the names of long-term care facilities where coronavirus outbreaks have occurred. VDH data is available HERE.
