The Martinsville Police Department said a man has been arrested for murdering his wife.
Police said 25-year-old David Dillon Ives was arrested on Thursday, August 15.
Ives is charged with the second degree murder of Amber Ives, along with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm.
Police said they responded to a reported suicide at a home on Onieda Street Monday, August 12.
When they got there, 25-year-old Amber Ives was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Evidence collected at the scene and an autopsy done by the Medical Examiner's Office determined it was a homicide, not a suicide.
